The foundation stone for the company's reputation was laid on 10 May 1879 by master plumber Wilhelm Paff, who, in addition to his craft activities, developed, manufactured and distributed soldering fluid. His successor Hans Eckstaedt, the son-in-law of the company founder, successfully managed the company’s expansion and established the internationally protected trademark Stannol in the market at the end of the 1920s. In the 1950s, Stannol had already begun developing products for use in electrical engineering and, later on, for the electronics industry.
In 1989, Stannol was taken over by the English group Kelsey Industries, with its own subsidiaries in the US, Canada, Australia and Malaysia. In February 2000, Kelsey Industries was taken over by Henkel KGaA. The following year was marked by restructuring. Some product areas had to be transferred to Loctite Deutschland GmbH, a Henkel subsidiary. In July 2001, Karl-Heinz Dörr, the former managing director, took over Stannol-Lötmittelfabrik Wilhelm Paff GmbH & Co KG, which now operates under the name Stannol GmbH & Co KG, as part of a management buy-out.
In 2017, Marco Dörr becomes managing director alongside his father and took over most of the latter’s responsibilities. The company is held in high esteem by customers worldwide. The product range includes solder, solder wire, solder paste, solder flux, soldering irons and electronically controlled soldering stations as well as a comprehensive range of accessories.
The company is synonymous with quality, functionality and a gradual approach.
