Founded in 1972, Aries Electronics was formed when the late William "Bill" Sinclair acquired the backplane range from Thomas & Betts Corporation. The articles included IC sockets, headers and printed circuit boards. Under Bill's vision, Aries expanded the range to include a variety of packaging products, including sockets, pin headers and covers, programmable devices and a variety of jumper and cable assemblies.
Aries has positioned itself as a major source of unique connector products capable of solving a variety of packaging problems.
Aries is the recognised industry leader in zero-insertion-force (ZIF) test sockets for DIP, PGA, PLCC and SOIC devices and continues to be a leading source for a variety of specialist electronic connectors.
In recent years, the company has made great strides in the market for high-temperature sockets and flexible cable products. With the introduction of the Correct-A-Chip® product line, the company established itself as a major supplier of "smart connectors" (with other components, both passive and active) and adapters (connectors that enable the use of one type of connection on a board designed for another type of connection).
More recently, the company has developed and patented several concepts for BGA (Ball Grid Array) and LGA (Land Grid Array) sockets and acquired a high-frequency test and burn-in socket line that is driving growth in the test socket market.
